Mobile money: how your buyers pay
The journey of a purchase on your store, seen from the buyer's phone and then from your dashboard — MTN, Orange, confirmation, delivery, commission and balance.

On Kivoo, your buyers pay by mobile money. No bank card, no account to create: a phone number and a confirmation. Here is exactly what happens, on their side and on yours.
The available operators
For now, Kivoo accepts MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money in Cameroon. Payments go through Ejara, our payment provider. Other countries and operators will follow; we will announce them in the News rubric.
The buyer's journey, step by step
1. They choose the product
The buyer lands on your store, opens the product page and clicks to buy. The displayed price is the price they will pay: Kivoo adds nothing at payment time.
2. They give their name and email
They enter their name and their email address. No password, no sign-up: the email is used to receive the files. An order is created at that moment.
3. They choose their operator and number
They choose MTN or Orange, then enter the Cameroonian mobile number to debit. The minimum amount for a mobile payment is 100 FCFA. They press “Pay”.
4. They confirm on their phone
A payment request arrives on their phone. They approve it with their mobile money PIN. If no request shows up, they can dial *126# on MTN or #150# on Orange to approve the pending payment.
Until the buyer approves the request on their phone, nothing is debited and nothing is delivered. Kivoo waits for the payment provider's confirmation before treating the order as paid. If the request is refused or expires, the order is marked as failed and the buyer can try again without placing a new order.
5. They receive their files
As soon as the payment is confirmed, the buyer receives a “Your files are ready” email with a download link for each file of the product. The links stay valid for a few hours. Afterwards, they find their files at any time in their My purchases space on Kivoo, by signing in with the same email address.
That email also serves as their receipt: it carries the order reference, the name of your store and the product.
What you see on your side
The sale
You receive a “New sale” email with the product, the amount and the order reference. A notification appears under the bell of your dashboard. If you registered a Cameroonian mobile number, a text message also lets you know, without naming the product or the amount.
The order appears in the Sales section of your store, with its buyer. It is marked as paid: you have nothing to confirm, nothing to send.
The commission
Kivoo keeps a 10% commission on each paid sale. That is the only cost: no subscription, no setup fee, no withdrawal fee on Kivoo's side. On a 2,000 FCFA sale, the commission is 200 FCFA and you receive 1,800 FCFA.
The rate is written on the order at payment time and never changes afterwards. If the rate ever changes, your already paid sales keep theirs.
The balance
Your balance, visible in the dashboard, is the sum of your paid sales, minus the commission, minus the withdrawals already requested or paid. It grows with each confirmed sale. When you want to collect the money, you create a withdrawal request to your mobile money number: the guide Selling your first file with Kivoo details that step.
What can get in the way
A few situations we see at support:
- The buyer did not receive the payment request. They dial *126# (MTN) or #150# (Orange) to find the pending payment and approve it.
- The payment was refused or expired. The order is marked as failed. The buyer restarts the payment from the same order, without going through the cart again.
- The email address was mistyped. The download links go to that address. A word in your product description reminding buyers to check it saves a lot of back and forth.
